Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's basketball squads will
continue their five-game homestands this week as the Bulldogs host Lake Superior State and Saginaw Valley State in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action.

FSU first hosts Lake Superior State on Thursday (Feb. 2) night with the women's contest at
6 p.m. (ET) and the men's game to follow at approximately 8 p.m. (ET) inside Jim Wink
Arena.  Then, on Saturday (Feb. 4), the Bulldogs entertain Saginaw Valley State with game
times set for 1 p.m. (ET) and 3 p.m. (ET) for the women and men, respectively.

Both Bulldog teams currently are first in the GLIAC North Division standings heading into
the week and coming off a league sweep of archrival Grand Valley State this past Saturday
(Jan. 28) to open the homestand in Big Rapids.

The Bulldog women's team is presently 13-4 overall along with 10-1 in the GLIAC and holds a
commanding lead over second-place Michigan Tech (8-4) in the divisional stadings. FSU beat
GVSU 58-50 in its most recent women's action.

Meanwhile, the Bulldog men's squad moved back into first place in the GLIAC North with a
65-57 victory over the Lakers on Saturday.  FSU is 11-7 overall and 8-3 in conference play
as the defending GLIAC North Divison Champion.

Tickets for both doubleheaders will be sold on gameday at Wink Arena and are $7 for adults
or $5 for FSU faculty/staff, senior (ages 65+) and students K-12.  Current FSU students are
admitted free by showing a valid student ID card.  For more ticket info, please call the
FSU Athletics Ticket Office at (231) 591-2888.

Saturday's game versus Saginaw Valley State marks the third of FSU's four "Kidz Dayz"
events sponsored by Jet's Pizza.  All children in grades K-12 are free with a paid adult
and a number of special kids activities will take place, including face painting, a bounce
house, photos with Brutus the Bulldog and more.

Additionally, one lucky fan both days will have an opportunity to win $10,000 in a shot
sponsored by Lake Osceola State Bank.

In addition to Saturday's Kidz Day event, the Mariachi Nacional Band of Indianapolis will
provide music druing both halftimes as part of the area's annual Festival of the Arts

A fixture of Mexican culture since the 18th century, Mariachi bands are typically used to
serenade sweethearts and celebrate special events such as weddings and birthdays.
Traditional Mariachi bands feature an acoustic guitar, a vihuela (a small five-string
guitar), a guitarrón (a large acoustic bass), violins and trumpets. Originally street
musicians and restaurant performers, today many Mariachis are also highly regarded
professional musicians. Until recently, few featured or were led by women, making the
Mariachi Nacional Band very special; it was formed by female violinist Rosa Pérez in 2000.

Also, on Saturday, the Bulldogs will welcome the high school girls basketball teams from
Frankfurt and St. Joseph Lutheran.  The two schools will square off in junior varsity
action at Wink Arena prior to the Bulldog women's game at 10:30 a.m. (ET) with the varsity
game between the two teams following the men's outing at 5:30 p.m. (ET).

Both doubleheaders will be carried live by the Bulldog Sports Network and Sunny 97.3 FM
with Rob Bentley calling the play-by-play coverage and Sandy Gholston offering color
commentary.  They will be available online at www.FerrisStateBulldogs.com.  Additionally, a
live pay-per-view video webcast and live internet statistics will also be offered.
