Kenny Brown Claims Bankhoops.com Honor
Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University junior guard Kenny Brown (Farmington Hills/Harrison) has been tabbed as this week's Michigan Small College Player of the Week as chosen by Bankhoops.com.
The 6-2 Brown led the Bulldogs as FSU improved to 6-3 overall and remained unbeaten at 3-0 in the GLIAC with two wins last week. He earned the site's weekly honor from writer Stephen Bell after a big week for the Bulldogs.
Brown totaled 36 points, seven rebounds, six assists and two steals in two games as Ferris State increased its winning streak to six-straight. He averaged 18 points per game.
After scoring seven points with five boards and five assists in Tuesday's (Dec. 6) 75-62 home win over Alma, Brown came back to score a game and personal career-high 29 points as the Bulldogs rallied from a 21-point second half deficit to stun Northwood 69-64 in GLIAC play on Saturday (Dec. 10) night in Midland. He tallied 26 of his 29 points in the second half and finished by making five three-pointers. Additionally, he also sank four free throws in the final seven seconds to secure the win.
This week marks the second time this season Brown has earned a player of the week honor as he was chosen previously (Nov. 29) as the GLIAC North Division Player of the Week. He's averaging a team-high 15.7 points per game this campaign to date.
Ferris State returns home to host Michigan Tech in leauge play on Sunday, Dec. 18, at 3 p.m. (ET) inside FSU's Jim Wink Arena in Big Rapids. The Bulldogs then face Northern Michigan the following day (Dec. 19) at 7 p.m. (ET) in a conference home game.
