FSU To Host GLIAC Tourney Quarterfinal; Ticket Office Offers Expanded Hours

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball team has secured its first postseason home game in five years as the Bulldogs will host a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Quarterfinal contest on Wednesday, March 2, at Jim Wink Arena.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. (ET) against an opponent yet to be announced pending the outcome of the league's final regular-season contests on Saturday (Feb. 26), including FSU's regular-season finale home game versus archrival Grand Valley State.  Complete pairings will be announced by the league office on Saturday evening.

Advance ticket sales for Wednesday's quarterfinal will begin on Saturday (Feb. 26) morning at 10 a.m. (ET) and can be obtained by visiting the FSU Athletics Ticket Office located in the Ewigleben Sports Complex. Ticket prices for the league quarterfinal are $8 for adults or $2 for all students older than age five, including college students with identification.

All seats are general admission and no regular-season passes of any type such as FSU Rebounders Club or all-sports passes will be accepted per league tournament regulations.

The box office will begin selling tickets for the quarterfinal on Saturday at 10 a.m. (ET) and will be open until one hour after Ferris' regular-season finale versus Grand Valley State.  The ticket office will not be open on Sunday, but will offer expanded operating hours from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both Monday and Tuesday.  They will open on Wednesday to sell tickets starting at 9 a.m. leading up to the quarterfinal game that evening with the doors to Wink Arena opening at 6 p.m.

Four quarterfinal-round games will be played on March 2 with the winners advancing to the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals and Finals on Saturday and Sunday, March 5-6, at the site of the highest remaining seed.  Last Saturday's (Feb. 19) exciting 84-66 win over previously third-ranked Findlay lifted FSU to the outright GLIAC North Division Championship and the inside track to potentially hosting the semifinals and finals depending on the outcome of Saturday's final day of regular-season action and the quarterfinal-round results.

The winner of the GLIAC Tournament receives an automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament slated to be held March 12-15 at a campus site yet to be determined.

The Bulldog men are 8-13 all-time in 11 previous tournament appearances and reached the GLIAC Semifinals a season ago. Ferris captured the 1997-98 league tourney title and will be making its sixth appearance in the last seven years, including a third consecutive showing.  However, the Bulldogs have not played at home since recording a 73-68 quarterfinal-round win over Northern Michigan five years ago (2/28/06).

Prior to the GLIAC Quarterfinals, the Bulldogs will play their final regular-season contest at home Saturday against archrival Grand Valley State.  Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. (ET) and the program will celebrate its "1,000th Win" recorded earlier this month with a special halftime ceremony involving former players and staff.  The Bulldog senior class will also be honored in conjunction with the "Senior Day" game.

FSU is presently ranked 21st in this week's National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II Top 25 National Poll along with third in the NCAA-II Midwest Regional Rankings with a 20-5 overall mark to date.
