Sunny 97.3 To Carry Ferris State Basketball
Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University Athletics and the Bulldog Sports Network have announced a partnership with local radio station Sunny 97.3 to carry all remaining Bulldog men's basketball games during the 2010-11 campaign.
Sunny 97.3 FM will air its first broadcast of Bulldog Basketball this Saturday (Feb. 26) as FSU hosts archrival Grand Valley State in the regular-season finale at Jim Wink Arena. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. (ET) with pregame coverage beginning at approximately 12:30 p.m. (ET).
Additionally, the station will also carry Saturday's second game of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) doubleheader between the Bulldog women's team and GVSU, which begins at 3 p.m. (ET).
Veteran play-by-play announcer Scott Roman will provide the play-by-play coverage for Saturday's action with local media personality Sandy Gholston offering color commentary. The broadcast will also include a postgame show and feature interviews with coaches, players and more.
"We're excited to partner with Sunny 97.3 in bringing Bulldog Basketball back to the airwaves the rest of the season," said FSU Athletic Director Perk Weisenburger. "Our men's basketball team has had an outstanding season and this is a tremendous opportunity to bring these games to a broader fan base.
"We're also excited to be able to put the final women's home game on 97.3 as well," he added.
Sunny 97.3, which is operated under the direction of longtime owner Steve Masters, plans to follow the GLIAC North Division Champion men's basketball squad throughout its postseason run starting next Wednesday (March 2) when the Bulldogs host a GLIAC Tournament quarterfinal-round game at 7 p.m. (ET) inside Wink Arena.
They also plan to carry the GLIAC Semifinals and Finals, if necessary, on Saturday and Sunday, March 5-6, in addition to any contests in the NCAA Division II Tournament should the Bulldogs receive a bid. Roman will handle all play-by-play coverage for home contests with FSU Associate Athletics Communications Director Rob Bentley calling the action for all road games.
In addition to the local broadcast signal on Sunny 97.3, all games will also be streamed live online via the Bulldog Sports Network. Fans can listen to the online broadcast by logging onto the school's official athletics website at www.ferrisstatebulldogs.com and clicking on the "Bulldog Athletics Webcast" icon.
Sunny 97.3 is the area's number one oldies station and offers news, sports along with weather from its downtown Big Rapids location. They are also the local radio affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers and Minor League Baseball's West Michigan Whitecaps.
