FSU Basketball Hosts Northwood Saturday!

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's basketball squads return home for a key Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) doubleheader against the Northwood Timberwolves this Saturday (Dec. 11) at Jim Wink Arena.

FSU first hosts the Timberwolves in the men's game at 1 p.m. (ET) with the women's contest starting at approximately 3 p.m. (ET) as part of the league's new scheduling format with the men playing first in all conference doubleheaders this campaign.

Additionally, Saturday will also represent the second of FSU's Saturday "Kidz Dayz" events sponsored by Green's Sporting Goods at Wink Arena.  The fun, exciting and free activities for kids will include an arts and crafts table, bounce house, halftime events, face painting, photos with Brutus the Bulldog and more.  It is free to children in grades K-12 with a paid adult.

Tickets for the doubleheader will be sold at the door starting one hour prior to the opening game. FSU students are admitted free with their student identification cards and encouraged to attend and be a part of the "Dawg Pound".

Saturday's home games are part of a FSU Athletics' tripleheader with the nationally-ranked Bulldog Hockey team hosting Alaska in their Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) series' finale later that evening at 7:05 p.m. (ET) across the hall inside the Ewigleben Ice Arena.

The Bulldog men's team is presently 5-3 overall and 2-1 in the GLIAC with the women's squad holding a 4-3 mark and a 1-2 league ledger heading into Saturday's games.  Both teams dropped league road contests at Hillsdale on Tuesday (Dec. 7) evening with the men falling to the nationally 17th-ranked and unbeaten Chargers 83-76 and the women dropping a 81-62 decision.

Northwood's men, under first-year head coach Jeff Rekeweg, are presently 2-6 overall and 1-1 in the GLIAC entering Thursday's (Dec. 9) league home tilt versus Grand Valley State.  Meanwhile, seventh-year head coach Jeff Curtis' women's team is 2-4 and 0-2 in the GLIAC prior to facing GVSU on Thursday.

Both Ferris State basketball games will be carried live locally via Bulldog Radio, which can be found on Charter TV Channel 98 in Mecosta County or Channel 21 on the FSU campus along with online at www.ferrisstatebulldogs.com.  Dan Kowalski will call the play-by-play action on Bulldog Radio.
