Big Rapids, Mich. - The 2010-11 Division II Bulletin Preseason National Player of the Year has been chosen as this week's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Men's Basketball Player of the Week as Ferris State University's Justin Keenan (Grand Rapids/Ottawa Hills) earned the distinction today (Nov. 22) from the league office.

Keenan showed why he's among the top players in the country by averaging 25 points and 12.5 rebounds in two key regional home victories this past week.

The 6-7 Keenan scored a game-high 25 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in FSU's 66-55 home win over a nationally top-10 ranked preseason foe in St. Joseph's (Ind.) on Monday (Nov. 15) evening at Wink Arena. He then added a contest-best 25 points and 12 boards as the Bulldogs improved to 3-0 overall this season with a hard-fought 64-61 victory against Lewis (Ill.) on Saturday (Nov. 20) afternoon.

Keenan scored six of FSU's final nine points as the Bulldogs rallied from a four-point deficit in the final four minutes against Lewis and was a perfect 11-of-11 at the charity stripe in the win over the Flyers.

For the week, Keenan made 16-of-27 (.593) field goal tries and was 18-of-23 (.783) at the free throw line.  He totaled 50 points and 25 rebounds in the two contests.

Keenan was honored as a 2009-10 State Farm® Coaches' All-America First Team selection, becoming the first-ever All-America pick at the Division II level in Ferris State men's basketball history.  He was also the first Bulldog player in 36 years to claim All-America accolades and joined four previous players to achieve the distinction in Ferris men's hoops history. Keenan was also chosen by the Grand Rapids Press as its West Michigan Small College Player of the Year for the 2009-10 campaign and honored as FSU's male recipient of the Dean Davenport "Bulldog of the Year" Award.

Last year, Keenan was honored as the winner of the prestigious GLIAC Player of the Year Award for the 2009-10 season, becoming the first Bulldog men's basketball player in 20 years to attain the recognition. He was only the fifth player in school history to be tabbed as the league's top seasonal performer and the first since David Tuck in 1990.

A two-time first team All-GLIAC recipient, Keenan averaged a league-leading 21.1 points per game in 22 conference regular-season contests last season and held a 20.1 points per game average for all games last campaign.  Additionally, his 465 points in league games finished only six shy of matching the league's single-season scoring record of 471 points.

Keenan and the Bulldogs will try to keep their unbeaten streak on the line as they take part in the Owensboro (Ky.) Classic this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 26-27, at the Owensboro Sports Center in Owensboro, Ky.  The Bulldogs face to challenging regional foes with games against Drury (Mo.) on Friday (Nov. 26) and host Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday (Nov. 27).  Both tipoff at 9 p.m. (ET).
