Festival Of The Arts Halftime Performance Set
Ferris State University basketball fans will be treated to a special performance on Saturday, Feb. 6, as a barbershop quartet called X-position, which is part of the award-winning Grand Rapids Chapter of Sweet Adelines chorus, will be performing live inside FSU's Jim Wink Arena during halftime of both the Bulldog women's and men's basketball contests against Findlay in Big Rapids, Mich.
The performance is being conducted through the local area's
popular Festival of the Arts activities. Together, the quartet
members have more than 55 years of barbershop singing
experience.
The women's game versus the Oilers tips off at 12 p.m. (EST) with
the men's game to follow at 2 p.m. (EST). Tickets for the Great
Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) doubleheader will
be sold at the door starting one hour prior to tipoff.
In addition to performing live at halftime, the group will join
other members of the Grand Rapids Chapter of Sweet Adelines and
perform later the same day as part of another Festival of the Arts
event inside the Big Rapids High School Auditorium with a free
concert featuring harmony sung in true barbershop style at 7:30
p.m. (EST).
Grand Rapids Sweet Adelines is a barbershop chorus of women from
the Grand Rapids area. This fantastic chorus has been reaching
audiences in Michigan and all over the world since 1955. With more
than 30,000 members worldwide, Sweet Adelines International is one
of the world's largest singing organizations for women.
The Festival of the Arts is in its third year since the
reincarnation of an idea originally started by Dr. Dacho Dachoff to
celebrate the 75th anniversary of Ferris State University.
The Festival has grown from a Ferris event to a true community
event that continues to build bridges between both ends of Michigan
Avenue with the participation of the City of Big Rapids, the
Downtown Development Association, the Downtown Business
Association, Artworks and numerous businesses and individuals
throughout the community.
The Festival of the Arts runs throughout the month from Jan. 28 to
Feb. 28 in the Big Rapids area.
