"Community Health Day" At FSU Hoops Saturday
The Ferris State University Athletics Department has again
teamed up with several other campus organizations and will hold
"Community Health Day" this Saturday (Feb. 6) in conjunction with
the Bulldogs' Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
(GLIAC) men's and women's basketball doubleheader versus Findlay at
FSU's Jim Wink Arena in Big Rapids, Mich.
Besides the athletics department, the other campus organizations
and departments taking part in the event this year include the FSU
Colleges of Allied Health, Optometry, Pharmacy, Nursing and Dental
Hygiene in addition to the Birkham Health Center.
Free informational tables will be available on a variety of
health-related issues, including diabetes, breast cancer awareness,
immunizations, hypertension and oral health. Additionally, free
screenings will be held for things such as diabetes, glaucoma, oral
cancer, blood pressure and blood glucose.
The "Community Health Day" event will take place during the
basketball doubleheader from 12:45 to 3:15 p.m. (EST) in the FSU
Sports Complex. The women's hoops game against Findlay tips off at
12 p.m. (EST) with the men's game versus the defending NCAA
Division II National Champions following at approximately 2 p.m.
(EST).
Prior to Saturday's outing, the Bulldogs will first host Hillsdale
in a GLIAC doubleheader on Thursday (Feb. 4) evening with the
women's game set for a 6 p.m. (EST) start inside Wink Arena and the
men's game beginning at 8 p.m. (EST).
Presently, the Bulldog men's basketball squad is in second place in
the GLIAC North Division standings with an 12-7 overall and 10-4
league record this campaign. The FSU women's team enters this
week's action at 5-14 overall and 4-10 in conference play.
Tickets for both of this week's doubleheaders will be available at
the door starting one hour prior to tipoff. All single-game general
admission ticket prices are $7. FSU students are admitted free with
ID.
