Standout Receiver From Nation's #1 Prep Team Becomes Latest Addition To Ferris State Recruiting Class

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University football program, which received rave reviews for its stellar 2013 recruiting class announced on Wednesday during national signing day, has added another highly-talented prospect from the nation's number one ranked prep football team for most of last fall.

Slot receiver Jajuan Pollock (Bradenton, Fla./Manatee), who played for national powerhouse Manatee High School in Bradenton, Fla., officially became the 35th member of this year's recruiting class after inking his national letter-of-intent today (Feb. 8).

"Jajuan is a dynamic player and we're thrilled he decided to become a Bulldog," said FSU assistant coach Ryan Brady, who played a key role in the recruiting process.  "He's a talented individual and further adds to what already was an outstanding recruiting class."

Pollock is the fourth player in the last two years from Manatee to sign with the Bulldogs and joins a high school teammate in defensive end Marquis Dawsey as FSU's two out-of-state signees from the prep level in this year's class.  A year ago, the Bulldogs also signed two standouts from Manatee in slot receiver Ryan Taylor and running back Antonio Agurs, who both saw time on the field as true freshman in the FSU offense last fall.

A multi-year starter, Pollock helped Manatee to 25 consecutive victories during his prep career.  He was a key piece of a Manatee offense that averaged more than 50 points per game last fall and totaled seven touchdowns in postseason action as the Hurricanes reached the state final four for the fourth-straight season.

As a junior in 2011, Pollock netted 35 catches during Manatee's state title run and helped the team to a 13-2 overall record under legendary head coach Joe Kinnan.  He was chosen to the IMG All-Madden Team for his performance in an invitation-only summer camp featuring some of the nation's top talent last year and scord four times in a regional championship game during the 2012 season when Manatee was the consensus number one prep team in the nation for most of the year.

Pollock, who was both an all-area and all-conference choice, has also ran track and field at Manatee and will embark on his freshman season with the Bulldogs in 2013.  He becomes the 20th offensive player to join FSU's recruiting class and is also the 28th of the Bulldogs' 35 signees to date who helped his team to a state playoff appearance as a senior.

This year's talented Ferris State prep class comes on the heels of a successful debut season for the Bulldogs under head coach Tony Annese.  He guided Ferris State to a 7-4 overall mark in his first campaign last and FSU ranked among the nation's top teams in both rushing offense and total offense.  For his efforts, he was a national semifinalist in voting for the prestigious Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award.

This past season, the Bulldogs recorded several impressive wins under Annese's direction, including beating archrival Grand Valley State in the Anchor-Bone Classic for the first time since 1999, snapping a 10-year losing streak to Michigan Tech and topping defending national runner-up Wayne State for the first time in five years.  FSU also managed to win seven games for only the second time in the past decade despite facing one of the nation's two toughest schedules in Division II football during the regular-season, according to the Massey Ratings.
