Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University football team wraps up the 2011 campaign by hosting the Northwood Timberwolves this Saturday, Nov. 12, at FSU's Top Taggart Field in Big Rapids. Kickoff for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contest is slated for 2 p.m. (ET).
Nine Ferris State seniors will be making their final career appearance at Top Taggart Field versus NU and will be recognized prior to the contest. The group includes wide receivers William Frazier, Damien Miller and Mike Ryan along with quarterback Tom Schneider and guard/center Jake Hancock on the offensive side of the ball. The defensive seniors include a pair of defensive backs in Antwian Windmon and Courtney Tipton to go with defensive lineman Muneer Bawayeh in addition to punter Shawn Snoor on special teams.
Saturday will also be "Dog Day" as fans can bring their dog to the game as FSU Athletics teams up with The Riley MacKenzie Fund to help support local animals. Fans who bring a donation of pet or people food will be entered to win a gift basket and those who dress up their dog to show FSU "Bulldawg" spirit could win a prize. The Bulldogs can register their first winning season since 2008 with a victory on Saturday over the Timberwolves. FSU enters the game owning a 5-5 overall record and a 4-5 GLIAC mark this season with Northwood holding a 2-8 overall record and a 1-8 ledger in conference play.
Saturday's football game will be part of a busy day on the FSU campus. The Bulldog women's basketball team tips off its 2011-12 campaign against Lewis (Ill.) at 6 p.m. (ET) inside Jim Wink Arena with the nationally eighth-ranked Ferris State hockey team hosting 11th-ranked Lake Superior State in their series finale with faceoff set for 7:05 p.m. across the concourse at the Ewigleben Ice Arena.
In addition, Ferris State could also potentially host the GLIAC Volleyball Semifinals the same day at the Ewigleben Sports Arena should the top-seed FSU volleyball team beat Wayne State in Thursday's quarterfinals.
