Football Scrimmage Wraps Up Preseason Camp

Big Rapids, Mich. - The 2010 Ferris State University football team
held its final preseason scrimmage on Friday (Aug. 27) morning in
conjunction with the program's annual Media/Fans Photo Day at FSU's
Top Taggart Field in Big Rapids, Mich.
The Bulldogs scrimmaged for nearly two hours under sunny conditions
before a nice crowd of fans and local media in a controlled
situation on the stadium's Mondo Ecofill artificial
surface.
While a few key players were limited during the scrimmage for
various reasons, the Bulldogs were able to move the ball
offensively at times and sustain drives. The defense also had
opportunities to create big plays as the top units battled each
other for parts of the scrimmage. Special teams work also
took place throughout the morning.
The scrimmage wrapped up the Bulldogs' preseason camp.
The players will get tomorrow off before beginning their normal
game week routinue on Sunday.
"It was a great morning and a good opportunity to wrap up camp,"
said FSU head coach Jeff Pierce. "It's one
week until showtime and we're excited.
"Overall, it was a good camp and our guys were very focused and
business like throughout," he added.
Ferris' three-week training camp period featured nearly 20 practices and two scrimmages along with meetings, lifting, conditioning, testing and various orientation sessions.
Ferris State will kickoff its 102nd season of varsity
competition Friday, Sept. 3, against the Hillsdale Chargers in a 7
p.m. (EDT) non-conference contest at HC's Muddy Waters Stadium in
Hillsdale, Mich.
The Bulldogs then open Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (GLIAC) play the following week with their first home
contest of the 2010 season versus Saginaw Valley State on Saturday,
Sept. 11. Kickoff for the "Honoring American Heroes" Day tilt
is scheduled for 6 p.m. (EDT) with a variety of activities taking
place throughout the day.
