FSU Football Opens Fall Camp On Aug. 11
The Ferris State University football program will begin official
preseason preparations for the 2010 campaign next Wednesday (Aug.
11) as the squad's freshmen report to campus for the first
time.
The Bulldogs' returning veterans will check in on Thursday (Aug.
12) with the squad's first official practice set for Friday (Aug.
13) morning. FSU will hold 25 workouts along with two major
scrimmages prior to the team's season opener on Friday, Sept.
3.
Ferris' three-week training camp period will not only feature practices and scrimmages, but also meetings, lifting, conditioning, testing and various orientation sessions. Practices will be held both on the FSU practice fields along with selected ones on the Mondo Ecofill artificial surface at Top Taggart Field.
FSU's initial preseason scrimmage is set for Saturday, Aug. 21, at 9:30 a.m. (EDT). The final scrimmage will be held prior to FSU's annual media/photo day activities on Friday, Aug. 27. The scrimmage will begin at 9 a.m. (EDT) with the media/photo day taking place at 1 p.m. (EDT).
"We're excited for a new season and a fresh start this year," said FSU head coach Jeff Pierce. "Our guys have worked extremely hard over the course of the off-season and are ready for camp to start."
Ferris State will kickoff its 102nd season of varsity
competition Friday, Sept. 3, against the Hillsdale Chargers in a 7
p.m. (EDT) non-conference contest at HC's Muddy Waters Stadium in
Hillsdale, Mich.
The Bulldogs then open Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (GLIAC) play the following week with their first home
contest of the 2010 season versus Saginaw Valley State on Saturday,
Sept. 11. Kickoff for the "Honoring American Heroes" Day tilt
is scheduled for 6 p.m. (EDT) with a variety of activities taking
place throughout the day.
