Bulldog Football Lift-A-Thon On March 26
Big Rapids, Mich. - The 2010 Ferris State University football team in conjunction with the Ferris Gridiron Club will conduct its 28th annual Bulldog Lift-A Thon fundraising event Friday, March 26, at the Ferris State Convocation Center’s Jim Wink Arena in Big Rapids, Mich.
The FSU Football Lift-A-Thon, which begins at 6 p.m. (EDT) and
is open free of charge to the public, serves as the primary fund
raiser for the Ferris State football program.
For the first time, this year's Lift-A-Thon will include the Bulldog Challenge, which consists of a bench competition, pro shuttle run, 20-yard sprint, tug of war along with a talent show.
The funds raised from this event will have a direct influence in maintaining the essential elements necessary for the Bulldogs to operate a competitive NCAA Division II football program in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), which is regarded as one of the nation’s top conferences.
Proceeds from the Lift-A-Thon will go towards maintaining current student-athlete scholarships, recruitment of new student-athletes, improvement within the weight training facilities, and assistance in the financing of both spring drills and early fall practice camp. The goal for this year’s event is to generate over $20,000 for the program.
The Lift-A-Thon, which was developed in 1982, operates under the FSU Gridiron Club and every dollar contributed to the Lift-A-Thon will go directly to benefit the Bulldog football program through the Gridiron Club. Every dollar contributed for the Lift-A-Thon will go to the football program through the Gridiron Club and those who contribute will enjoy the various levels of benefits associated with the Gridiron Club.
Pledges for the Lift-A-Thon can be made on a per-pound basis or on a flat dollar rate donation. Those sponsoring a football student-athlete will be billed following the event for their per-pound commitment.
