Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University students and fans will have a special opportunity to meet this season's FSU basketball and hockey teams during the first "Bulldog Winter Showdown" on Thursday, Oct. 14, at FSU's Jim Wink Arena.
The event will begin at 8 p.m. (ET) with doors opening at 7:45 p.m. (ET). Admission is free.
In addition to having the opportunity to see the 2010-11 FSU men's and women's basketball teams along with the Bulldog hockey squad, the event will also feature a fan and player slam dunk contest, three-point shootout and an all-star shooting stars competition.
Tons of prizes will be awarded, including Detroit Red Wings and Pistons tickets, dinner for two at the Hockeytown Cafe, a FSU hockey student season pass and much more.
Those in attendance will receive free pizza and a free raffle ticket will be given to anyone wearing Ferris apparel. Addditional raffle tickets will be available for purchase for $1 each.
Half of the proceeds from all raffle tickets will go the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation with the other half of the cash awarded to the winner of the Grand Prize "Package".
Additionally, all hockey student season ticket holders will receive their Dawg Pound hockey jersey at the event. Those in attendance will also have an opportunity to tour the Bulldog Hockey facilities after the event concludes around 9 p.m. (ET).
The Ferris State men's and women's basketball teams will officially begin preseason practices the following day (Oct. 15) with the FSU hockey team also playing its 2010-11 home opener versus St. Lawrence the same evening at 7:05 p.m. (ET) inside the Ewigleben Ice Arena.
