Bulldog Athletic Association Continues To Grow

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University continues to work hard on the growth and development of the Bulldog Athletic Association and its annual fund, which enhances opportunities for student-athletes and the athletics program.

The Bulldog Athletic Association is the fundraising arm of Ferris State Athletics and supports student-athletes in 15 intercollegiate programs as they strive for excellence in the classroom, competition and in life.  The success of the Bulldog Athletic Association provides additional opportunities for student-athletes, strengthens the university and reflects positively on the local community.

Currently, the BAA has nearly 800 members overall with close to 200 members giving at a minimum level of $250 annually.  The goal is to have at least 1,000 individuals who are passionate about Ferris State Athletics contribute a minimum of $250 on an annual basis.

"This campaign is very important to us and plays a critical role in our on-going process of building a stronger financial model that will help us secure the future success of Ferris State Athletics," said FSU Athletics Director Perk Weisenburger.  "We're pleased with the progress we've made and appreciate the support of all those who have contributed to Bulldog Athletics.  We also encourage anyone who hasn't joined to consider becoming a member of this important fund."

By becoming a member of the Bulldog Athletic Association, donors help both the current and next generation of FSU student-athletes.  Individuals can help Ferris State recruit and retain the best student-athletes by contributing to the annual fund.  Contributions can be designated as unrestricted, meaning FSU Athletics can direct the gift to the greatest area of need, or gifts can also be directed to the varsity sport or area of choice.

The Bulldog Athletic Association also encompasses all fundraising groups such as the Blueline Club, Gridiron Club, Rebounders Club, Sixth Dawg Club and The Gallery.  Therefore, if you annually contribute (at the minimum level) to one of the booster groups noted above then you are a Bulldog Athletic Association member.

"Our goal is to ignite the spirit and passion that surrounds Ferris State University Athletics and makes us competitive both regionally and nationally," said FSU Athletics Advancement Officer William Goode.  "We want our former student-athletes, fans, friends, and community to continue their commitment of supporting the highest level of excellence in the classroom, competition, and in life."

Those wishing to join the Bulldog Athletic Association and contribute can visit www.FerrisStateBulldogs.com and click on the Bulldog Athletic Association's "I'm A Bulldog" icon.  Contributions can also be made by calling (888) 378-3647 via credit card by phone.

Additionally, an electronic bank draft can also be used to make a gift.  For only $20.83 per month, a donor can make a $250 annual gift.  An annual gift of $500 is only $41.66 per month.

"The Bulldog Athletic Association is designed to appeal to a wide range of alumni, donors, sponsors and casual fans who possess a connection to Ferris State University and Bulldog Athletics," Weisenburger said.  "Developing our ability to raise funds that annually strengthens our athletics programs through the Bulldog Athletic Association is our goal and it will stay our goal on a yearly basis.

"We hope you'll join us in support of the past, present and future student-athletes at Ferris State by joining the Bulldog Athletic Association," he added.
