The Ferris State University Athletics Department held its 2010
"Thank You" Scramble in recognition of local supporting businesses
on Wednesday (May 26) afternoon at Falcon Head Golf Course in Big
Rapids, Mich.
More than 30 golfers took part in the event under sunny and warm
conditions with a variety of great individual and team prizes up
for grabs including Bulldog shirts, hats, sweatshirts, balls and
more.
The event was held to honor and recognize those contributors who
help support FSU Athletics' marketing efforts throughout the
year.
"We appreciate the support of our local business partners," said
FSU Associate Athletics Director Jon Coles.
"They help us out so much in so many ways as clients and we
couldn't exist without their outstanding support."
The field included seven teams made up of local supporting
businesses and most teams were paired with at least one member of
the FSU coaching staff, including head coaches such as Bob
Daniels (hockey), Bill Sall (men's
basketball), Mike Mignano (men's & women's
golf) and Keri Becker (softball). A number of
assistant coaches and other department members also played and FSU
Athletics Director Tom Kirinovic was on hand for
the "Add the AD" hole.
The prizes for the outing were donated by several different
Bulldog Athletics programs and the outing was organized by Coles,
who coordinates the department's marketing efforts.
The winning team, which carded a seven-under par 29 over the back nine holes at Falcon Head, came from Snyder's Market and included local owner Kraig Snyder. Assistant football coach Eric Ravellette was also a member of the winning group, which was determined via a tiebreaker.
Flag prize winners included Chemical Bank representative Michelle Ramsey (closest to pin), Steve Hilberg (closest to pin), Kyle Papes (longest drive) and Team Buffalo Wild Wings, which received the honor for longest putt after men's basketball coach Bill Sall found the bottom of the cup.
In addition to the winning team from Snyder's Market, other local entries included supporters from the Pioneer Group, Big Rapids Foot & Ankle, General Mills, Tan Lines, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chemical Bank, Bill Scheible State Farm Insurance and Isabella Bank. Many other various businesses supporting FSU Athletics were also invited to attend this year's outing.
