Bulldog Women's Tennis Drops First Match Of Spring Semester To Hillsdale

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis squad played its first match of the spring semester on Saturday (Feb. 24), but came out on the short end of an 8-1 regional decision in non-league play to visiting Hillsdale at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids.

Ferris State managed to pick up a win at number one doubles where the tandem of Nika Hein and Silvia Verebes were 8-6 winners, but Hillsdale took the other seven matches on the day.

The Chargers led 2-1 after the doubles round and came up wins in all six singles flights, including a three-set triumph at the top flight in the lineup.

With the win, Hillsdale improved to 2-2 on the year while FSU fell to 5-9 overall.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Friday (March 2) against Southern Indiana in regional action starting at 11 a.m. (ET) in Evansville, Ind. FSU then will play four matches on a spring break trip to Hilton Head, S.c., the following week.
