Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer squad kept the momentum going as the Bulldogs opened weekend Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action with a 1-0 road shutout win over Davenport on Friday (Oct. 14) afternoon in Caledonia.
The Bulldogs' Isabella Zamborini tallied her team-leading ninth goal of the year at 18:47 of the opening half off an assist from senior Katie Nestico to account for the day's only scoring.
Ferris State held a 17-5 margin in total shots for the afternoon, including an 8-1 edge in shots on goal in the victory. The contest also featured seven corner kicks with all seven going to FSU.
FSU's Lauren Kubacki went the distance in goal and made a single save in earning the shutout over 90 minutes. She moved to 5-0 overall this year with the triumph.
Meanwhile, Gabriana Bennecke suffered the setback for the Panthers in net with seven saves in 90 minutes of action.
Zamborini led FSU with six shots overall, including four on goal, while Payton Price had three shots.
Ferris State improvecd to 8-3-3 overall with the win and is now 6-1-3 in GLIAC play. The victory was the fourth-straight for FSU, which is now 7-0-1 in its last eight contests overall.
The Bulldogs will visit nationally-ranked archrival Grand Valley State on Sunday (Oct. 16) for a 1 p.m. (ET) league tilt in Allendale.
