Bulldog Women's Golf Finishes Tied For 12th Overall At D2 National Championships; Highest Finish In 17 Years

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team concluded action in the 2026 NCAA Division II National Championships on Thursday (May 14), finishing tied for 12th overall with a 934 team score at the end of the 54-hole stroke play competition.

The Bulldogs saw their season come to a close in their second consecutive trip to nationals, coming in only nine strokes out of eighth place and an advancing spot to the NCAA D2 National Quarterfinals. FSU carded scores of 309 in round one, 312 in round two and 313 in the final round, tying with both Arkansas Tech and Barry (Fla.) for 12th place in the field of 18 squads.

The finish marked FSU's highest national finish since tying for sixth place overall in 2009.

The D2 National Championships were hosted by Palm Beach Atlantic University and the Palm Beach Sports Commission. Each team compete in 54 holes of play with a round of 18 each day. The top eight teams in the field after Thursday's final round advanced to the head-to-head match play quarterfinals.

This year's trip to the national championship finals represented FSU's 11th in school history and second in a row. Last year, the Bulldogs made their first appearance in the national championships in 16 years dating back to 2009. FSU placed 17th overall a season ago at the national championships.

The stroke play portion of this year's championship was won by Wingate with a Toal of 877 overall. Dallas Baptist took second place (897) and St. Mary's (Texas) was third (909).

Senior Kamryn Shannon led the Bulldogs as she finished tied for 34th place on the leaderboard with a three-round total of 231 overall, including a 78 in Thursday's final round.

FSU's Ashley Thomasma came in tied for 39th at 232 overall, shooting a 79 in round three. Senior Lizzie Anderson posted a 77 in the last round and placed tied for 42nd with a three-round score of 233.

Also, Kylie Walker came in tied for 63rd overall, notching a 79 in Thursday's competition for a three-round total of 238 in the event. Finally, Taylor Musselman shot a 86 in the last round and finished with a 257 score for 93rd place overall.

Along with reaching the D2 National Championships this year, the Bulldogs also won the GLIAC Championship and placed third overall in the NCAA D2 East Regional Championships under head coach Sam Stark.
