Ferris State Cross Country Squad Notch Strong Performances At Two Friday Meets

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's cross country teams were in action on Friday (Sept. 19), sending student-athletes to two different meets.

The Bulldogs competed in both the Roy Griak Invite in Minneapolis along with the Lansing Invite, which was held at Grand Woods Park.

Ferris State took second place overall in the women's 5K race at the Lansing Invite, totaling 63 points. Meanwhile, the men were fourth in the 8K competition with 127 points.

Isabelle Eppert won the race for Ferris State, clocking 19:43.0 overall. Becci Castillo placed fourth (20:09.3) and Kennedi Wahmoff finished 18th (21:28.4) atop the Bulldog lineup.

Mick Robinson led FSU as he placed 22nd overall in a time of 27:39.6. Jose Flores came in 24th (27:48.9) and Greg Vogt was 32nd (28:23.6) in leading the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs placed sixth overall on the men's side at the Roy Griak Invite in the Jo Rider Maroon Race featuring Divison II and III schools. FSU finiwshed with 167 total points along 21 competing schools. Ferris State's women's team finished 10th in the Suzy Wilson Maroon Race with 274 points.

FSU was led by Emmett Johnson in 19th place (27:09.6). Aaron Bowerman came in 27th (27:25.4) with Chase Fitterer 36th (27:37.5) in the field.

The women were paced by Whitney Farrell in 20th place (23:51.9). Ella Kowatch wound up 47th (24:49.9) and Olivia Van Denend was 59th (25:08.1).

Ferris State will next be in action on Oct. 3 at the Joe Piane Invite in South Bend, Ind.
