Ferris State Track Teams Notch 21 Top-20 Finishes At GVSU Big Meet

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's indoor track and field teams took part in one of the nation's largest events over the weekend, concluding the non-scoring event held on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 13-14) in Allendale.

Overall, the two Bulldog teams combined for 21 top-20 meet performances against some of the nation's top competition.

The Bulldog women's team was led by Whitney Farrell, who placed fourth overall in a time of 10:04.25 in the 3,000 meters. Sadie Larson was seventh in the 60-meter hurdles (9.10).

FSU's Angela Kopeck took 10th in the long jump (16-7), Alexis Le was 15th in the high jump (4-10.25) and Abby Griffith came in 19th in the 800 meters (2:20.46). Maddy Biller placed 20th in the shot put (36-5).

The Bulldogs' 4x400-meter women's relay squad of Breanna Campbell, Grace Bullock, Abigail Robinson and Darnesha Fraley took 11th place (4:15.68).

On the men's side, Devin Dennison won the weight throw (64-11.25) with a NCAA Division II National Qualifying performance and one of the top all-time event marks in program history.

Ferris State's Trevor Smith took fifth place in the 200 meters (22.02) and Blaine Rogers was sixth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.59). Smith also finished in 10th place in the 60 meters (6.97) with Blace Farrington 14th (7.01) and Carson Guysi 17th (7.04). Chase Segaar was 19th in the 400 meters (49.88).

The Bulldogs' Andrew Shafley was ninth in the 800 meters (1:55.33) and Josh Langland came in 20th (1:56.57) in the race. Aaron Bowerman wound up 12th in the 3,000 meters (8:42.34).

Hunter Richardson was 10th in the shot put (49-9.75) and Brady Zarb placed 15th in the weight throw (48-6.75). Aaron Pierce was 16th in the long jump (19-8.75).

FSU's 4x400-meter relay squad of Segaar, Langland, Luke Berney and Lucas Sefferlein placed second (3:17.68).

The Bulldogs will compete in the SVSU Tune-Up Meet on February. 20 in University Center.
