Ferris State Tennis Teams Close Spring Trip Leading Eckerd Before Weather Suspends Florida Matches

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's tennis squads closed out their spring break trips to Florida on Friday (March 13), taking on Eckerd in the Sunshine State before weather suspended both matches.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the men's contest and held a 3-2 advantage in the women's matchup before weather impacted the day. The two matches will not be completed.

In the men's match, the Bulldogs won the doubles point with victories from Felipe Iser and Kevin Kovacs at the two doubles flight and Kacper Pasielak and Jose Perez at three doubles. In addition, Kovacs was victorious at one singles in straight-sets by a 6-2, 6-2 score.

Meanwhile, in the women's outing, Ferris State also came away with the initial point by winning the doubles round as the number one pairing of Maria Fernanda Hernandez Ferrer and Ana Sofia Hernandez Ferrer earned a win as did the second tandem of Ayva Johnstone and Madeline Peisley. In singles play, Peisley completed a straight-set win at one singles and yada Mari came away with a win at the two singles flight.

The Bulldogs will return back to Michigan to open Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play. The women will visit Saginaw Valley State on Thursday (March 19) for a 3 p.m. (ET) league tilt before both teams travel to Davenport on March 27 and Grand Valley State on March 28.
