Ferris State's Jose Perez Recognized As GLIAC Men's Tennis Player Of The Week

Big Rapids, Mich. - Sophomore Jose Perez (Quito, Ecuador) of the Ferris State University men's tennis squad received recognition as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Tennis Player of the Week for his efforts this past weekend.

Perez led the Bulldogs to a pair of wins as FSU improved to 8-1 overall this year and stretched its winning streak to seven consecutive matches.

The FSU standout recorded a 5-7, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) win over Western Michigan's Tim Riedel on Friday (Feb. 20) in the Bulldogs' impressive 5-2 triumph over the NCAA Division I Broncos, which resulted in FSU's first win over a D1 school in at least 20 years. He also teamed up with Kacper Pasielak for a 6-1 win at two doubles in the contest.

Perez then came back on Saturday (Feb. 21) to notch two more wins in FSU's 7-0 sweep of Hillsdale, winning 6-3, 6-1 at two singles and pairing up again with Pasielak for a 7-5 triumph at two doubles.

For the weekend, he went a perfect 4-0 in combined singles and doubles play.

The Bulldogs will return to the court on March 8 as they open their annual spring break trip to Florida with a non-league matchup at Florida Southern starting at 12 p.m. (ET).
