Ferris State Hockey Hosts Augustana This Weekend; Donate To Two Important Causes

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team resumes Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) action at home this weekend, Nov. 22-23, as the Augustana Vikings make their first-ever league road trip to Big Rapids to face the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs, who are coming off a 3-2 win over Lake Superior State in the Superior Ice Showdown in Traverse City this past Saturday, will take on the Vikings to open the weekend on Friday evening with puck drop set for 7:07 p.m. (ET). The weekend finale on Saturday is slated for a 6:07 p.m. (ET) start.

Ferris State will take part in two important charitable causes this weekend as part of the home action. FSU will hold a canned food drive on Friday evening and fans are encouraged to bring a canned food item or items to donate at the door to those in need this holiday season. In addition, Saturday night will mark FSU's annual Teddy Bear Toss and Bulldog fans are asked to bring a new or slightly used teddy bear or stuffed animal to throw on the ice after the first FSU goal. The collected bears will be donated to children in need for the holidays.

This year marks FSU's 50th season of hockey and 47th season of NCAA Division I hockey action. It is also the Bulldogs' 33rd campaign under longtime head coach Bob Daniels, who notched his 500th career head coaching victory with the win over Lake Superior State this past weekend.
