Ferris State Men's Golf Finishes Third At GLIAC Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team concluded action in the 2026 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships with a third-place finish on Friday (April 17) in Augusta, Mich.

The Bulldogs finished the 54-hole stroke play championships with a four-over par total of 856, finishing only seven shots out of a top two finish at Stonehedge Golf Club. Grand Valley State took first place in stroke play with an 815 effort while Davenport placed second (849).

FSU's Ben Miller and Ethan Frost both tallied a 214 score for the three rounds and tied for 13th individually. Miller shot rounds of 70, 73 and 71 while Frost notched an opening-round 68 followed by scores of 71 and 75 over the final two rounds.

The Bulldogs' Kole Putnam finished 20th overall at 217 for the tournament as he shot a 74 in round one, a 71 in round two and closed with a 72 in the final round.

Ferris State's Zach Spencer came in 26th with a 291 effort in the event, carding scores of 77 and 73 in day one play on Thursday before finishing with a 69 in Friday's final 18 holes of play.

Finally, Sam Havey tied for 27th with a 220 score, notching a 72 in the first round before firing a 76 in the middle round and another 72 in the last 18 holes of play.

The top two teams in the standings following 54 holes of stroke play, GVSU and DU, advanced to the match play finals on Friday afternoon in an 18-hole showdown for the 2026 GLIAC team title.

Ferris State will play host to the 2026 NCAA Division II Midwest/Central Super Regional set for May 7-9 at FSU's Katke Golf Course. The Bulldogs are currently listed in the D2 Midwest Regional Rankings and the official NCAA Tournament selections will be unveiled on April 26 at NCAA.com.
