Ferris State Golf Teams Finish Second, Third At FIndianapolis Intercollegiate

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's golf teams concluded action on Tuesday (March 31) at the FIndianapolis Intercollegiate Tournament held in Laconia, Ind.

The Bulldogs earned runner-up honors in the men's competition with a three-round 878 stroke figure, finishing only two strokes behind champion and host Findlay at the Chariot Run Golf Course. FSU carded scores of 294 and 285 in the first two rounds before closing with a 299 figure in the third and final round of the 54-hole event.

FSU took third place overall in the women's field with a 932 total, notching scores of 308, 310 and 314 for the event. Findlay also won the women's side with a 892 figure while Indianapolis was second at 909 overall.

A total of nine teams took part in both the men's and women's tournaments.

The Bulldog men were led by Sam Havey, who placed fourth overall at 216 for the event. He shots scores of 74, 73 and 69 in the three rounds.

FSU's Kole Putnam placed ninth overall at 220, shooting a 72 in round one followed by a 70 in round two and a 78 in the last round.

Meanwhile, Ben Miller and Ethan Frost both tied for 12th in the field with 222 totals. Miller carded scores of 74, 70 and 78 while Frost shot 74, 72 and 76 in the three rounds.

Finally, Alex Kaems placed tied for 46th overall at 236. He shot a 85 in round one with a 75 in round two and a 76 in the last round.

The Bulldog women were led by Lizzie Anderson, who finished fourth overall. She finished with a 224 figure on rounds of 73, 75 and 76 in the event.

Ferris State's Kamryn Shannon carded a 232 total and placed 10th in the event, notching scores of 79, 75 and 78 for the three rounds.

FSU's Ashley Thomasma shot a 243 total for 22nd place overall. She carded a 77 in the first round followed by a 80 in round two and a 86 in the last round.

Ferris State's Kylie Walker also placed among the top 25, tying for 25th place at 244 for the event. She began with a 79 before shooting scores of 83 and 82 in the last two rounds.

Finally, Taylor Musselman also tied for 25th, shooting a 244 score. She opened with a 86 and came back with scores of 80 and 78 in the final two rounds of play.

The Bulldog women will next compete in the NC4K Classic on Monday and Tuesday, April 6-7, in Grove City, Ohio, while the men will take part in the Ken Partridge Intercollegiate set for Sunday thru Tuesday, April 5-7, in Noblesville, Ind.
