FSU Men's Golf Ties For Eighth Place At Ralph Hargett Memorial
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team tied for eighth overall in the Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate Tournament, which wrapped up on Tuesday (March 17) at Rolling Hills Country Club in Monroe, N.C.
The Bulldogs carded a three-round 878 team score in the event hosted by Wingate University, notching scores of 290 in round one, 299 in round two and 289 in the third round. Four of the teams that finished above FSU were ranked among the nation's top 50 squads, including three in the top 10.
Host Wingate won the tourney with a 838 team score followed by Emmanuel (Ga.) at 848 and Catawba at 852 in the top three overall.
The Bulldogs were led by Sam Havey, who tied for 15th place in the event with an even-par effort over the 54 holes of action. He tallied a 216 figure on scores of 70 in round one, 74 in round two and 72 in the last round.
FSU's Kole Putnam placed tied for 18th in the field with a 217 score, shooting a 70 in the opening round with a 75 in the middle round and a 72 over the final 18 holes.
Ferris State's Ben Miller and Ethan Frost both tied for 50th overall with final totals of 225 each. Miller shot scores of 73, 75 and 77 while Frost notched a 77, 78 and 70 final line.
Also, Ray Dress competed and placed tied for 82nd in the Bulldog lineup, shooting a 82 in the first round before back-to-back 75 scores in the final two rounds for a 232 total.
The Bulldogs will next take part in the Tennessee River Rumble set for March 23-24 in London, Tenn.
