Ferris State Men's Golf Closes Fall Season At Citrus Intercollegiate

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team wrapped up action in 14th place overall at the Citrus Intercollegiate on Tuesday (Oct. 28) at Championsgate Golf Club in Championsgate, Fla.

The event, which was hosted by Nova Southeastern, marked the final competition of the fall season for the Bulldogs, who are ranked 42nd nationally.

A total of 11 nationally-ranked squads were in the highly-competitive field and the event was won by sixth-ranked Florida Southern with a 850 team total. Barry (Fla.) took second (855) with Embry-Riddle (Fla.) third (868).

The Bulldogs notched a 309 team score in round one along with a 299 figure in round two and a 297 effort in round three to finish with a 905 team score for the 54 holes of action.

FSU was led by Ben Miller, who tied for 39th overall at +9 for the tournament for a 225 finish. He shot a 76 in the first round, a 73 in round two and closed on Tuesday with a 76 for the final 18 holes of play.

Ferris State's Kole Putnam also tied for 39th overall along with Miller at 225, notching a 76 in each of the first two rounds of play before coming back with a 73 on day two in the last round.

Both Sam Havey and Ethan Frost placed tied for 65th in the field with scores of 232 for the three rounds of play. Havey shot a 80 in round one followed by a 75 in round two and a 77 in round three. Meanwhile, Frost carded a 78 in the opening round before posting a 83 in the second round and an impressive 71 in round three.

Finally, Michael Fenech tied for 68th overall at 234 for the tournament. He opened with a 79 in round one and posted scores of 75 in round two and 80 in round three.

The event closed out the fall campaign for the Bulldogs under head coach Sam Stark. FSU will resume its spring season in March with both the GLIAC and NCAA postseason championships slated to take place later next spring.
