Ferris State Men's Golf Takes Fourth Place Overall At Pilgrim's Run Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team came away with a fourth-place overall team finish at the Pilgrim's Run Invite, which finished with final-round play on Tuesday (Sept. 9) in Pierson.

The Bulldogs carded a 905 team score for the 54 holes of action, shooting a 302 in round one followed by a 300 in round two and a 303 in the final round.

Overall, Ferris State trailed only team champion Indian Hills CC (886) along with West Texas A&M (891) and Davenport (904) in the field of 13 schools.

The Bulldogs were led by Kole Putnam, who shot a 221 for the event. He posted scores of 74 in round one before coming back with a 75 in round two and a 72 in the final round.

FSU's Ben Miller placed 10th overall at 223 with scores of 77 in the opening round and back-to-back 73 totals in the final two rounds of play.

Ferris State's Ethan Frost tied for 30th on the leaderboard with a 232 score. He shot a first-round 77 and then posted scores of 79 in round two and 76 in round three.

Meanwhile, Peter Roehl took 35th place, shooting a final-round 83 for a 233 figure after coming in with back-to-back 75 scores on Monday.

Sam Havey shot an 82 in the last round for the Bulldogs and finished tied for 39th overall with a 235 total. Havey had shot scores of 76 and 77 in rounds one and two, respectively.

FSU's Bryce Fleisher competed as an individual and wound up tied for 41st with a 236 total score. He notched a 76 in round one with a 82 in round two and a 78 in the last round."

Ray Dress also took part for FSU as an individual and finished tied for 48th, shooting an 80 in the opening round to go with scores of 83 in round two and 76 over the final 18 holes of action.

Finally, Zach Spencer came in tied for 79th at 251 overall. He shot an 84 in the first round before closing with an 88 in round two and a 79 in the final round.

The Bulldogs will next host the Midwest Regional Preview on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 15-16, at Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids.
