Bulldog Men's Golf Open's Pilgrim's Run Invite In Third Place On Day One
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team had a strong showing in day one play on Monday (Sept. 8) at the Pilgrim's Run Invite in Pierson.
The Bulldogs are presently tied for third overall in the 13-team field at the event, which is being held nearby at Pilgrim's Run in West Michigan.
Ferris State shot a 302 team score in the opening round and a. 300 figure in round two for a 602 total thru the first two rounds. West Texas A&M holds the day one lead with a two-under par 582 mark while Indian Hills CC is second at 600 in front of FSU.
The Bulldogs were led by Kole Putnam, who is currently tied for 13th overall at three-over par. He shot a 74 in the first round and a 75 in round two of play.
FSU's Peter Roehl is tied for 17th on the board with a 150 figure, carding back-to-back 75 scores for the opening two rounds.
Fellow Bulldog Ben Miller also shot a 150 and is tied for 17th. He posted a 77 in round one before coming back with a 73 in the second round.
Veteran Sam Havey shot a 76 in the first round and a 77 in the second 18 holes of play and currently sits tied for 27th for FSU with a 153 total after 36 holes.
Also, Ethan Frost came in tied for 35th overall as he shot a 77 in the first round and a 79 in the second round for a 156 total.
The Bulldogs' Bryce Fleisher competed unattached and is tied for 48th with a 158 score. He shot a 76 in the first round and an 82 in round two.
Ray Dress also competed individually and is tied for 66th overall at 163, shooting an 80 in the first 18 holes and a 83 in the second round. Zach Spencer also was an individual in the field and is tied for 81st with a 172 score on rounds of 84 and 88 in the first and second, respectively.
The final round of play starts on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. (ET).
