Bulldogs Fall To Lake Erie In Finale At GLIAC-GMAC Crossover

MIDLAND, Mich. — The Ferris State University men's basketball squad fell to Lake Erie, 88-72, on Saturday (Nov. 15) at Riepma Arena in Midland.

The Bulldogs wrapped up the GLIAC/GMAC Crossover with the setback, despite strong efforts in the paint, where the Bulldogs scored 38 points.

Ferris State began the opening half strong and got key contributions from Donovan Brown-Boyd, who scored a layup and assisted on a 3-pointer by Tyler Hamilton, helping the Bulldogs keep pace. Despite senior Mykel Bingham's defensive efforts, including a block at 16:22, the Bulldogs struggled with turnovers, committing 11 in the half. Lake Erie capitalized on the mistakes and maintained a narrow lead. The first half concluded with the Bulldogs trailing 40–36 on the scoreboard.

FSU made an assertive push midway through the second half, sparked by Brown-Boyd's 3-pointer at 17:12, cutting the deficit. Bingham contributed with two consecutive tip-ins, including one at 15:55, bringing the Bulldogs within one point of Lake Erie. Hamilton's layup at 14:41 briefly gave the Bulldogs a lead, but they struggled to maintain momentum as Lake Erie responded.

Despite strong efforts from FSU, including a fast-break layup by Jordan Jasper at 7:22 that regained the lead, Lake Erie closed the game with a decisive run. Lake Erie's offense surged in the closing minutes, extending the advantage as the Storm pulled away for the win.

Bingham scored 10 points and recorded three blocks while collecting eight rebounds for FSU. Hamilton added 16 points, including two 3-pointers, and tallied one assist. Brown-Boyd posted 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds with a three-pointer. Jasper contributed 12 points, making five field goals, and added one steal.

Amari Williams led Lake Erie with 14 points, connecting on six of 13 field goals and adding three assists. Jake Leibacher matched Williams with 14 points, going a perfect five-of-five from the free-throw line and collecting nine rebounds. Gio Moore added 15 points, including six made free throws, while also pulling down four rebounds. Kai Bloom contributed six points and dished out a team-high five assists.

The Bulldogs will look to bounce back on Wednesday (Nov. 19) as FSU visits Findlay for a regional road matchup in Ohio. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. (ET) at Croy Gymansium.
