HOME SEMIFINAL! Ferris State To Host Newberry In D2 National Semifinals Next Saturday!
Big Rapids, Mich. - For the fifth time in school history, the Ferris State University Bulldogs will host a NCAA Division II Football National Semifinal as the Bulldogs face Newberry (S.C.) on Saturday, Dec. 13, at FSU's Top Taggart Field in Big Rapids.
Kickoff for the D2 National Semifinal will be announced soon with the contest slated to be carried live across the country by ESPN+.
The Bulldogs, who are currently 14-0 overall this year, advanced to the national semifinals for the seventh time in the past nine seasons by beating Minnesota State 52-29 in the national quarterfinals for the Super Region Three Championship on Saturday in Big Rapids.
Meanwhile, Newberry topped Albany State (Ga.) 31-24 in the quarterfinals for the Super Region Two crown and holds a 12-1 overall record this year.
The contest will represent the Bulldogs' seventh national semifinal in the last nine seasons on the field and the eighth in program history. It will be the fifth semifinal played on FSU's home field with the previous matchups in 2019 against eventual national champion West Florida along with 2021 when the Bulldogs topped Shepherd (W.Va.) en route to their first national title. FSU entertained West Florida again in 2022 before claiming a second-straight championship and the Bulldogs then beat Slippery Rock (Pa.) at home a year ago in 2024 before winning a third D2 championship.
The four remaining semifinal teams were reseeded following Saturday's quarterfinals with FSU drawing the top seed. The other semifinal match will be Kutztown (Pa.) hosting Harding (Ark.).
The winners of the two semifinals will meet in the national championship game on Saturday, Dec. 20, in McKinney, Texas.
