PLAYOFF BOUND! Ferris State Earns #1 Seed In Super Region Three; Will Host Northwood On Saturday

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University football team has officially received the school's 11th consecutive NCAA Division II Playoff appearance as the Bulldogs were tabbed as the number one seed in Super Region Three during the official NCAA Selection Show on Sunday evening.

FSU's current 11-year playoff stretch under head coach Tony Annese is the longest active streak in NCAA Division II football.

As the top seed, FSU will host a first-round playoff matchup versus Northwood on Saturday, Nov. 22, at FSU's Top Taggart Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. (ET).

The other contests in the NCAA Super Region Three bracket feature second-seeded Findlay hosting Minnesota State this week along with third-seeded Indianapolis entertaining Truman State (Mo.) in round one in addition to fourth-seeded Ashland welcoming Minnesota-Duluth.

A total of 32 teams from the four super regions received NCAA Playoff berths with the expansion of this year's playoff field, which also eliminated all first-round byes.

Ferris State's berth in the NCAA Division II Playoffs will represent the 16th appearance in school history with the other five berths prior to the last 11 years all coming during a memorable five-year stretch from 1992-96.

Overall, the Bulldogs hold an all-time NCAA Playoff mark of 30-12 to date and have won NCAA Division II National Championships in 2021, 2022 and 2024. In 2018, FSU also reached the NCAA Division II National Championship Game. Ferris State has reached the national quarterfinals or beyond seven of the past eight seasons of action with six national semifinal berths in the stretch.

Ferris State capped off a perfect 11-0 regular-season on Saturday (Nov. 15) by beating Davenport 44-23 in the Calder City Classic in Caledonia. FSU also compiled a perfect 7-0 mark to win the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) for the second-straight year and seventh time in the last 11 campaigns. The Bulldogs are currently ranked first nationally in the D2Football.com and AFCA national polls.

The NCAA Division II Football Committee announced the field of 32 teams for the 2025 NCAA Division II Football Championship. A total of sixteen first-round games will be conducted on the campus of one of the competing institutions.

The first-round winners will all advance to the second round with games on the campus of one of the competing institutions. Second-round winners will meet in the quarterfinals at various campus sites. Quarterfinal winners will advance to play in the semifinals on the campus of one of the competing institutions. Eight teams selected per super regional make up the field of 32 teams.

The championship game will be played December 20, at the McKinney ISD Stadium in McKinney, Texas.
