Meet Pastor Mike Wissink

Pastor Mike Wissink has been working in campus ministry at Ferris State University since 1994.

In 2001, he began a Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) chapter on the Ferris State campus specifically targeting the varsity athletic programs.  The head coaches of the Bulldog men's and women's basketball, football, women's soccer, and women's volleyball have extended him the invitation to work as a Team Chaplain within their programs.

For his work, Pastor Wissink was acknowledged by the Ferris State University Athletics Department as the 2006-07 recipient of the "Pete Peterson Pride Award" for his volunteer efforts within these athletics programs.

In 2005, Wissink helped organize and travel with a group of 23 Ferris students and FCA members, which included several FSU student-athletes, on a spring break trip to Engelhard, N.C., where they helped construct and build a 60-x-80 foot church addition in an area devastated by Hurricane Isabelle. Since then, he's coordinated a yearly trip to various parts of the country in need.

Wissink's also been involved with a number of other community activities and local organizations which have provided support to Bulldog Athletics thru his church involvement over the years.

Pastor Wissink started his involvement with Bulldog Athletics in the late 1990's. He was the 19th individual affiliated with FSU Athletics to receive the "Pete Peterson Pride Award", which initially began following the 1981-82 athletics season.

Pastor Wissink and his wife, Ruth, have four children.
