KENOSHA, Wis. - Sophomore Emily May pounded 15 kills to lead nationally 16th-ranked Ferris State University to a sweep over Parkside on Friday (Oct. 3) night in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball play at De Simone Arena in Kenosha, Wis.

Ferris State, which is now 9-4 overall and 4-1 in GLIAC play, rallied from an early deficit in the opening set and pulled out a 26-24 win before closing the match with 25-21 and 25-20 victories in sets two and three, respectively.

The Bulldogs hit .191 as a team and out dug the Rangers 72-64 to hand Parkside (9-3, 2-3) its first home loss of the season.

May hit an efficient .412 on 34 swings and added a block. Setter Hayley Wegener orchestrated the attack with 33 assists, five digs and four blocks, while Gabby Piazza finished with 10 kills and 14 digs. Defensively, Jasmine Wellet collected 18 digs and Hope Davies chipped in 17.

Parkside's offense struggled to find consistency, finishing with 37 kills against 21 errors. Ava Irvin led the Rangers with 10 kills, while Mariena Coon added seven and five blocks. Libero Natalie Harris anchored the defense with 22 digs.

The Bulldogs closed the first set on a kill by May after fending off a pair of Parkside set points. In the second, Ferris used a 7-0 run behind Wegener's setting and Piazza's front-row presence to take control. The visitors then built an early lead in the third and never trailed.

Ferris State continues its road swing Saturday against Roosevelt starting at 5 p.m. (ET) in downtown Chicago.
