FSU To Host GLIAC Volleyball Semifinals/Finals

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball team will host the semifinals and finals of the 2011 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament this weekend (Nov. 12-13) at the Ewigleben Sports Arena in Big Rapids.

The top-seeded Bulldogs will face fourth-seeded Ashland at 12 p.m. (ET) in Saturday's (Nov. 12) semifinals with number two seed Hillsdale squaring off against third-seeded Saginaw Valley State at 3 p.m. (ET). 

The winners will meet Sunday (Nov. 13) in the tournament championship match at 2 p.m. (ET) in Big Rapids with an automatic berth in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament at stake.

Tickets will be sold beginning one hour prior to match time on Saturday and will be $5 for adults or $3 for all students from grades K to college with identification, which includes FSU students. Children ages four and under will be admitted free.

No complimentary passes will be issued per GLIAC Tournament guidelines and FSU's "Division II Pass for Two" will not be accepted for postseason contests. There will be no preseale of tickets.

All three matches will be streamed online with a live video pay-per-view webcast at www.FerrisStateBulldogs.com (click on video icon at top of the page).  Live internet statistics will also be offered.

The top four teams advanced to the semifinals by winning their respective quarterfinal matches at home on Thursday night (Nov. 10) with all four matches being decided by identical 3-0 scores.  FSU topped eighth-seeded Wayne State, fourth-seeded Ashland beat number five seed Northern Michigan, second-seeded Hillsdale defeated seventh-seeded Northwood and third-seeded Saginaw Valley State was a winner of number six seed Grand Valley State.

Fans attending Saturday's semifinals will also have an opportunity to catch a number of Bulldog teams in action.  The FSU football team hosts Northwood in its season finale at Top Taggart Field at 2 p.m. (ET) with the women's basketball squad officially opening its 2011-12 season versus Lewis (Ill.) inside Jim Wink Arena at 6 p.m. (ET).  The eighth-ranked Ferris State men's ice hockey team will also play at home against 11th-ranked Lake Superior State with opening faceoff for the series' finale set for 7:05 p.m. (ET) at the Ewigleben Ice Arena.
