Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's indoor track and field teams will take part in the 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 23-24) in Allendale, Mich.
The annual league meet will be hosted by Grand Valley State University at the Kelly Family Sports Center on campus.
The first day of competition will begin on Saturday (Feb. 23) at 10 a.m. with the women's pentathlon and the men's heptathlon. The running and field events for the rest of the student-athletes will begin around 4 p.m. On Sunday (Feb. 24), the men's heptathlon will finish up competition at 8 a.m., with the remaining field events beginning at 11:30 a.m. and the running events beginning at 1:15 p.m.
Four men's teams and four women's teams are in the top 25 of the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association computer rankings, and the GLIAC leads the way in conference strength for both the men and women.
It will be the first GLIAC championship meet for Malone and Walsh, the two newest members of the conference, as well as the first conference title meet for the Wayne State women's team, who added indoor and outdoor track and field last April.
