Women's Tennis Drops Season Opener To Wayne State

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team officially opened the 2012-13 campaign on Friday (Sept. 7), but suffered a 7-2 setback to Wayne State in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road action at Detroit, Mich.

The outing marked the debut for first-year FSU head coach Chad Berryhill, who took over the Bulldog program this past summer.

The host Warriors jumped out to an early 3-0 advantage by winning all three doubles flights.  They then took four of the six singles positions to earn the victory.

Ferris State's wins in singles play came from junior Ana Jan at the number one flight along with Janie Sell in number five singles competition.  Jan was a 6-3, 7-6, 10-7 winner over WSU's Yahsha Moore while Sell topped Jessica Kruczek by a 6-0, 3-6, 6-2 count.

The Bulldogs continue a season-opening three-match road swing this weekend by visiting Hillsdale on Saturday (Sept. 8) for a 12 p.m. (ET) league match.  FSU then takes on Findlay on Sunday (Sept. 9) with match time set for 11 a.m. (ET) in Findlay, Ohio.
