FSU Tops Michigan Tech In GLIAC Road Match

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State wrapped up its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula with a 7-2 victory over Michigan Tech on Sunday (Sept. 26) in Houghton, Mich.

The Bulldogs took the three doubles flights and claimed four of the six singles matches while improving to 6-1 overall and in league play.

Michigan Tech dropped to 1-4 overall and in the GLIAC with the home setback at MTU's Gates Tennis Center.

Ferris opened the match by sweeping doubles play with the closest score coming by an 8-5 decision at the number one spot in the lineup.

In singles play, FSU received wins at the two top positions at the two bottom flights as Michigan Tech's lone wins came at numbers four and five singles.

All six singles flights were determined in straight-sets.

The Bulldogs next visit West Michigan rival Grand Valley State on Friday, Oct. 1, for a 3 p.m. (EDT) league tilt in Allendale, Mich.

Following the road match at GVSU, the Bulldogs return home for their final three conference regular-season matches versus Ashland, Lake Erie and Ohio Dominican from Oct. 7-9.
