Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer program will have an opportunity to help those in need as the Bulldogs host a special "Just For Kicks" event in conjunction with their regular-season home finale versus Lake Erie on Sunday (Nov. 3).
The Bulldogs, in partnership with Dr. Jeff Mossel at the Big Rapids Foot & Ankle Clinic, will take on the Storm starting at 12 p.m. (ET) at the FSU Soccer Field.
As part of the contest, the Bulldogs will help support a wonderful cause by accepting donations of gently used pairs of shoes, which will in turn be donated to those in need. Those who donate will receive free admission into the game.
"We're excited to partner with Dr. Mossel and help aid this important cause," said FSU Associate Athletics Director Jon Coles. "Not only will these donations help those in need, but hopefully we'll also be able to draw some fans to support our team in the last regular-season home contest."
Ferris State is currently 8-6-1 overall under first-year head coach Andy McCaslin and in the upper half of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) standings with a 6-4-1 league record.
Prior to Sunday's regular-season finale, the Bulldogs will host archrival and nationally top-ranked Grand Valley State on Wednesday (Oct. 30) starting at 4 p.m. (ET) at the FSU Soccer Field.
The Bulldogs are still battling for a potential first-round home matchup in the GLIAC Postseason Tournament, which begins next week. FSU has reached the conference tournament three consecutive seasons to date, including back-to-back semifinal round showings the last two years.
Ferris State currently owns a 6-0 overall mark at home to date this season heading into the week and has outscored the opposition 21-3 in games played in Big Rapids.
