Women's Golf Team Active Local Community Event Participant
Ferris State women's golf team members Jacqueline DeBoer, Emily Rohdy, Bryce Hetchler, and Cooper Shawen attend one of the Girls on the Run events at Brookside Elementary School.

Student-athletes on the 2010-11 Ferris State University women's golf team recently donated their time to three local community events - Girls on the Run Valet, Girls on the Run Program and the Special Olympics Program.

Girls on the Run Valet
Members of the Bulldog women's golf team volunteered as valet parking attendants for the Girls on the Run (GOTR) Fashion Show held April 18, 2011 at the Blue Cow Cafe in downtown Big Rapids Mich.

Girls on the Run Program
The women's golf team served as guest coaches on a volunteer basis for the local Girls on the Run chapter at Brookside Elementary and Big Rapids Middle School during the spring season of GOTR.  The ladies addressed those in attendance about what it's like to be a college student-athlete along with various topics related to that particular practice.

Special Olympics Program
The Bulldogs are participating in the Special Olympics Program, which runs from June 8 to July 15 on Wednesday and Friday evenings at FSU's Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids.  The Special Olympics Golf Program of Area 5 within the Special Olympics of Michigan is currently in its second year.  The program, which is directed by Ferris State women's golf head coach Michael Mignano along with assistance from 2010-11 Bulldog women's golf team members and Professional Golf Management (PGM) students, has increased in participation numbers and those within the program are planning to play in the 2011 State Championship on July 15 in Ypsilanti, Mich.  A year ago, 10 athletes were involved in the event compared to 15 individuals who attended the first 2011 practice on June 8.
