Bryce Hetchler Receives Weekly Conference Women's Golf Honor

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has selected junior Bryce Hetchler (Clinton Township/Fraser) of the 2010-11 Ferris State University women's golf team as the conference's Women's Golf Athlete of the Week as announced by the GLIAC office this Tuesday (Sept. 14).
Hetchler captured medalist honors at the Lake Superior State Invitational last weekend (Sept. 11-12) in Kincheloe, Mich., as she produced a first-place 12-over par 156 stroke total (76-80=156, +12) in the two-round tournament. Her tourney-opening 76 score represented a personal single-season best as the Bulldogs took top team honors at the Lake Superior State Invite with a 642 score (316-326=642, +66).
Prior to her first-place effort, Hetchler's highest finish was seventh place at the Findlay William "Bing" Beall Classic (Sept. 28-29) during her 2008-09 freshman season. Hetchler carded a 154 score (76-78=154) in the two-round event.
This season, Hetchler is presently averaging a team-best tying 78.25 stroke average (313 total strokes) in four rounds.
For her career, Hetcher has registered a current 80.95 average (4,614 total strokes) in 57 rounds of competition. She has accumulated 12 top-20 place tourney performances, which includes seven among the top 10.
Hetchler and her Ferris State teammates are idle this weekend before returning to the course Sept. 25-26 to participate in the Michigan State Mary Fossum Invitational at East Lansing, Mich.
