Ferris Ranked 10th In Final National Poll

The 2008-09 Ferris State University women's golf team has earned a top-10 national ranking in the fifth and final Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Women's Golf Coaches' Poll as the Bulldogs are listed in 10th place. The national poll was released Wednesday (May 6) and will appear in Golf World's May 11 issue.

Ferris State totaled 160 points in the final spring season national poll. The Bulldogs, who had been ranked eighth in the previous poll (April 22), were listed fifth in the NCAA Division II preseason edition of the Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Women's Golf Coaches' Poll (Aug. 27). FSU, under the guidance of second-year head coach Mike Mignano, was ranked ninth with 176 points in the first 2009 spring season poll (March 4).

Nova Southeastern (Fla.) maintained its hold on first place as a result of recording seven of the nine first-place votes and accumulating 246 points.

The Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Women's Golf Coaches' Poll is formulated based upon the combined resources of Golf World magazine and the NGCA. The poll can be viewed online at www.golfworld.com.

Ferris State will be making its sixth consecutive national tournament appearance by securing a berth into the 2009 NCAA-II Women's Golf Championships (May 13-16) at Findlay, Ohio. The Bulldogs earned a trip to nationals with a second-place 960-stroke team performance at the 2009 NCAA-II East Regional Tournament (May 3-5) in Belle Vernon, Pa.
