Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University's scheduled Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) home doubleheaders versus Lake Erie and Walsh slated for this weekend have been officially moved to the home field of Davenport University in Caledonia, Mich.
The change was necessary due to field conditions from the winter weather at the FSU Softball Field in Big Rapids, which means the Bulldogs' home-opening action will have to wait a little longer.
The Bulldogs will host Lake Erie on Friday (March 29) in a conference twinbill with the first pitch for game one now moved up to 12 p.m. (ET). Game two will follow at approximately 2 p.m. (ET) at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex, which is located on 68th Street just south of the university's campus in Caledonia Township near the Grand Rapids area. The facility includes an artificial turf outfield.
On Saturday (March 30), FSU hosts league newcomer Walsh with the start time remaining as scheduled at 1 p.m. (ET) for the opener followed by the nightcap at approximately 3 p.m. (ET) at Davenport.
The Davenport softball facility is located at 6125 68th Street in Caledonia. Parking is limited as DU is also hosting a home baseball doubleheader.
The Bulldogs presently own a 9-7 overall mark this campaign. Ferris State opened the year with a 6-1 start at the Florida Rebel Spring Games, which marked the Bulldogs' second-best start in the last 15 years.
Currently, FSU is 2-2 in the GLIAC after last weekend's first conference action where the Bulldogs fell in two games at Ashland before bouncing back to sweep Malone on Sunday.
Following this weekend's action, the Bulldogs are slated to host Lake Superior State on Tuesday (April 2) in a conference twinbill beginning at 3 p.m. (ET). For now, the game remains slated to be held at the FSU Softball Field.
