Ferris State's Craig Pefley Garners WCHA Rookie Of The Week Recognition

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University redshirt freshman forward Craig Pefley has been chosen as this week's Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Rookie of the Week.

Pefley tallied a league-leading four points on a goal and three assists in the Bulldogs' weekend road series at Lake Superior State as FSU captured four points. 

All four of the rookie's points came in Friday's 6-4 road win over the Lakers, which included a key power play goal in the third period to put FSU in front by two goals. He also had an assist on the eventual game-winning goal from Ryan Lowney late in the contest. Overall, Pefley tallied four shots and had a +1 rating on the ice over the weekend while also leading FSU with 25 faceoff wins in the two-game set. 

This season, the rookie has totaled 19 points on four goals and 15 assists in 27 games for the Bulldogs. He also owns a +3 on-ice rating and has accumulated 30 total shots along with three power-play markers in his initial campaign.

Pefley and the Bulldogs will open postseason action this weekend as FSU faces Bowling Green in WCHA First Round Playoff action in Ohio. Both Friday and Saturday's games of the best-of-three series along with Sunday's, if necessary, are slated for 7:07 p.m. (ET) starts.
