Ferris State Hosts Bowling Green In First-Place Showdown This Weekend
Big Rapids, Mich. - The nationally-ranked Ferris State University men's ice hockey team will square off against Bowling Green this weekend in Big Rapids with first place on the line in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) standings.
The Bulldogs, who are currently in first place in the WCHA with a 7-2 overall record and perfect 4-0 league slate, host the Falcons in a two-game set at the Ewigleben Ice Arena. The series gets underway on Friday (Nov. 15) night with the finale on Saturday (Nov. 16). Both games are set for 7:07 p.m. (ET) puck drops.
Bowling Green will enter the weekend series tied for second place in the league standings as the Falcons hold a 5-3-2 overall record and a 3-1-0 mark in league action. FSU holds a current two-point lead over BGSU atop the WCHA.
The Bulldogs are presently riding a five-game winning streak and coming off back-to-back weekend sweeps of Alabama-Huntsville and Bemidji State in their first two weeks of WCHA action. FSU is ranked 14th this week in the United States College Hockey Online (USCHO) National Poll along with 15th in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll. BGSU is among those teams receiving national votes in both polls.
This Friday is Ladies Appreciation Night with a limited number of tickets being sold for $6 in advance. A special "BOGO" offer or buy one ticket, get one free will be available for Saturday's series' finale against the Falcons while supplies last.
Single-game tickets for all FSU home contests this season are currently on sale and can be bought online at StarTickets.com, by calling 1-800-585-3737 or purchased in person at the FSU Athletics Ticket Office. The ticket office will be open inside the Ewigleben Sports Complex Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (ET) along with extended hours on Wednesday until 7 p.m. (ET).

Ferris State and Bowling Green will face off for the 132nd and 133rd times this weekend in a series that dates back to 1978. The two teams enter the weekend matchup tied with a 55-55-20 all-time record. However, the Bulldogs are 13-4 in the past 17 outings and won five of seven matchups in 2011-12 in addition to three of four last season.
Following this weekend's action, the Bulldogs will wrap up the six-game homestand by hosting Alaska on Nov. 22-23. The two games against the Nanooks will be FSU's final action at home in the 2013 calendar year until the Bulldogs return to home ice on Jan. 10-11 versus Michigan Tech.
