2012 Golf Outing Feature
Big Rapids, Mich. - Due to extremely high demand from the Bulldog Nation, the Ferris State University men's ice program has announced that this Saturday's (Aug. 3) Bulldog Hockey Classic-Alumni Golf Outing is officially sold out.
The outing, which serves as a fundraiser for the Bulldog Hockey program, will feature a total of more than 40 teams and 160 golfers for the 27th annual event on Katke Golf Course's 21-hole championship course at FSU.
"We're thrilled again with the outstanding turnout expected for this year's event, which comes on the heels of a record crowd last year," said FSU head coach Bob Daniels. "This outing is also an enjoyable event as we welcome back the alumni players in addition to having the opportunity to interract all the tremendous community supporters and fans. We thank everyone for their support of this event."
Due to state regulations, all beverages this year must be purchased at the course.
Along with the golf outing, Saturday's events will include a morning reception for former players and coaches along with lunch at the course prior to the 18 holes of golf. A dinner and awards ceremony will follow at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Conference Center.
The weekend activities will include the annual Little Kevin Softball Game at Hemlock Park in Big Rapids starting at 7 p.m. (ET) on Friday night, which pits local heroes from the police and firefighters force against Bulldog Hockey alumni. All proceeds raised from a 50/50 drawing go to the Mecosta County Community Foundation.
A postgame reception will take place for players, family and friends on Friday night at Shooters sponsored by the FSU Blueline Club. The Bulldog Hockey Classic-Alumni Golf Outing regularly draws former and notable Bulldog Hockey players for both the softball and golf events.

Ferris State will embark on its first season in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) during the upcoming 2013-14 campaign. The Bulldogs recently wrapped up their final season of CCHA competition and earned a first-round tournament bye for the fourth consecutive year, one of only two schools to accomplish the feat in the final four years of the league.
This past season's campaign came on the heels of a historic 2011-12 campaign in which Ferris State received its first-ever number one national ranking, won the CCHA regular-season championship, claimed the NCAA Midwest Regional crown and advanced to the Frozen Four for the first time in school history.
The regular-season home opener is set for Friday, Oct. 18, as FSU entertains St. Lawrence in Big Rapids with the squad's first-everWCHA home series slated for Nov. 8-9 versus Bemidji State.
