Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University, the Bulldog men's ice hockey program and the Ewigleben Ice Arena will be showcased live on Saturday (Feb. 16) night as Fox Sports Detroit makes the trek to Big Rapids to televise FSU's last-ever Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) regular-season home game against Bowling Green State.
The final home game in league regular-season action will begin promptly with the official puck drop set for 5:06 p.m. (ET) as part of Fox Sports Detroit's "Hockey Day In Michigan" coverage. Fred Pletsch, who serves as the commissioner of the CCHA, will team up with Darren Eliot to call the action while Justin White will serve as the rinkside reporter.
The live broadcast, which will take place from inside a SOLD OUT Ewigleben Ice Arena, will open Fox Sports Detroit's doubleheader across the country. Michigan State will host Northern Michigan in CCHA play following the game at 7:35 p.m. (ET) in East Lansing.
Fox Sports Detroit is carried via DirecTV on channel 663 along with channel 430 on Dish Network. The station is also carried on many local cable and satellite providers across the country and fans are encouraged to check their local listings for availability. It will also be simulcast on Fox College Sports Central.
Saturday night's game will serve as FSU's annual "Senior Night" contest and the Bulldogs will honor five seniors prior to the game. Ferris State fans are encouraged to wear red, come early and cheer loud for the Bulldogs as part of a "Red Out" effort on Saturday. The first 500 fans will receive free thundersticks and a special "Skate with the Dawgs" event will also take place following the regular-season home finale. It will mark the final regular-season home game in the 42-year history of the CCHA.
Saturday night's sellout will represent the Bulldogs' fifth capacity crowd of the 2012-13 campaign and it marks the 11th sellout for the Bulldogs since the second half of last season.
While Saturday's finale is sold out, limited tickets remain for tonight's (Feb. 15) series opener against BGSU at the Ewigleben Ice Arena and fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets as soon as possible. The puck will drop for the opening game at 7:05 p.m. (ET) and is being billed as "International Night" sponsored by the Office of International Education. The night's activities will include a special team picture giveaway along with a "Frozen Four" poster drawing.
Fans can purchase tickets by visiting the FSU Athletics Ticket Office located inside the Ewigleben Sports Complex or by calling (231) 591-2888. The ticket office is open thru the game. A complete pricing structure and additional information is available online at FerrisStateBulldogs.com and can be found by visiting the "tickets" tab.
While the weekend series marks the final two league regular-season games against the Falcons, the two teams will remain future opponents in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) beginning next season. A year ago, the Falcons captured a best-of-three CCHA second round playoff series by beating FSU in Big Rapids to advance to Joe Louis Arena. However, the Bulldogs were able to come back to sweep BGSU earlier this year (Nov. 16-17) in Ohio.
Although this weekend's series' represents the final regular-season home action for the Bulldogs this campaign, fans are encouraged to stay tuned to FerrisStateBulldogs.com regarding potential playoff ticket availability as it becomes available should Ferris State earn the right to host a first or second round home series for the CCHA Tournament.
