Ferris State's Trent Davison Named To Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar Team

Big Rapids, Mich. -  Junior standout Trent Davison (Rockford) of the Ferris State University men's golf team has been chosen to the2013 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar Team, according to a recent announcement made by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

A total of 152 players at the NCAA Division I level along with 57 in Division II and 18 from NAIA schools earned the prestigious honor.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in at least 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships.  They must also have a stroke average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 77.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

This season, Davison was named to the 2013 Division II PING All-Midwest Region Team and was an All-GLIAC First Team honoree as he placed fifth in the league's scoring process with a 73.80 average based upon his 10 best rounds in league play along with the conference tournament.  This year marked the second consecutive year in which he attained All-GLIAC First Team laurels.

In the 2012-13 campaign, Davison finished among the top 20 golfers in nine of his 11 tournaments. His totals included five top-10 finishes and he placed third in three seperate events this season.

This summer, Davison was chosen by USA Athletes International to take part in the IGI Series as part of a U.S. Ambassador Team that will play at historic St. Andrews in Scotland from August 12-21.  The squad will consist of 12 athletes from the GLIAC and will compete in a series of matches against a local Scotland club.

The Bulldogs, under sixth-year head coach Mike Mignano, made their 11th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance in men's golf this season. FSU wrapped up action in the 2013 NCAA Central/Midwest Super Regional Championships by coming away with a 10th-place team finish in Kenosha, Wis.

FSU also earned runner-up honors in the GLIAC Championships last fall, which were held in Elyria, Ohio.  Davison earned a share of eighth place overall at the conference championships this year.
