For the third consecutive week, Ferris State University senior Eric Lilleboe (Okemos/Lansing Catholic Central) has been selected as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's (GLIAC) Men's Golf Athlete of the Week.
Lilleboe became a three-time winner of the conference's weekly honor as a result of claiming medalist honors with an even-par 210 score (70-71-69-210) at last weekend's (Sept. 26-27) Ferris State Matt Pinter Invitational in Big Rapids, Mich. Lilleboe's performance helped the Bulldogs win the tourney team title with a three-round two-stroke over par 842-stroke total on FSU's Katke Golf Course.
Lilleboe initially earned league player of the week kudos on Sept. 15 and was a repeat selection the following week (Sept. 22).
This season to date, the two-time (2007-08 and 2008-09)All-GLIAC First-Team pick has registered a team-best 68.75 strokes averages (550 total strokes) in eight rounds of competition. Lilleboe began this 2009-10 season by earning medalist recognition at the Saginaw Valley State Al Watrous Memorial Intercollegiate Invitational (Sept. 12-13) with a school-record 14-under par 202 score in the three-round event. He then finished runner up at the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region Tournament I (Sept. 20-21) by firing a two-round 138-stroke total before winning top individual accolades at the Ferris State Matt Pinter Invitational
The 2007-08 GLIAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Year, Lilleboe is currently averaging 73.45 strokes per round (5,729 total strokes) in 78 career rounds.
Lilleboe and his Ferris State teammates will have their sights set on winning the 2009 GLIAC Championship title this weekend (Oct. 3-4) at the Marquette (Mich.) Golf Course.
